Craveable - The Culture Craver Blog

It's Day 6 of my June Culture Binge. My mother (who was a Forest Acres camper as a little girl) and I went to see "Moonrise Kingdom." It's set on an island off the New England Coast in the 1960s. Two kids fall in love during a chance encounter at a summertime play. The following summer, the boy escapes from his khaki scout summer campsite, crosses the island to find his penpal girlfriend, and then escapes with her into the woods ... as a record-setting storm approaches. What follows — campfire, a perfectly pitched tent, more escaping, a questionably legal wedding, and the promised storm — are totally funny and endearing. We loved it! It gets a big Culture Craver star from me.
